How many calories in oat milk
A 250 ml glass of oat milk has about 115 kcal, mostly from the oats' own carbs.
Portion
To burn it off

Oat milk is oats blended with water, often with a bit of oil for creaminess. That gives a glass 17 g of carbs, 4 g of fat and 3 g of protein.
A 250 ml glass is 115 kcal, so a splash in your tea is barely anything. A big oat latte uses a lot more of it.
The barista versions foam better because they have more fat in them. Lovely in a flat white, a bit more to count.
Tips
- 1Pick the light or unsweetened carton for drinking and cereal.
- 2Keep the barista one for coffee and the plain one for everything else.
- 3Ask for a small latte rather than a large if you have a few a day.
Where it comes from
Oat milk as we know it came out of Lund University in Sweden. In the late 1980s and early 1990s food scientist Rickard Öste, who was researching lactose intolerance, worked out how to turn oats into a drink with qualities close to cow's milk. In 1994 he founded Oatly with his brother Björn, the first company to make oat milk commercially.
