How many calories in a cheeseburger
A restaurant cheeseburger has 800 kcal, with 42 g of protein.
Portion
To burn it off

A cheeseburger is beef, cheese and a bun, and the size of the patty decides almost everything. That's why the numbers range so far.
The small one from a fast food chain is 300 kcal. A proper restaurant burger is 800, and the full meal with fries and a fizzy drink is 1,100.
The burger itself is a decent bit of protein. It's the sides that quietly double things.
Tips
- 1Swap the fizzy drink for a diet one or water and keep the fries.
- 2Share the fries, or get a small portion.
Where it comes from
The cheeseburger is usually credited to Lionel Sternberger, who at 16 worked the grill at his father's sandwich shop, The Rite Spot, in Pasadena, California. The story goes that in 1924 he dropped a slice of American cheese on a sizzling hamburger, and it went on the menu. Other diners in the United States make their own claims, so being first is hard to prove.
