How many calories in a latte
A regular latte has 150 kcal, with 8 g of protein, 12 g of carbs and 8 g of fat, and nearly all of it comes from the milk.
Portion
To burn it off

A latte is one shot of espresso and a lot of steamed milk. The coffee is about 3 kcal, the milk is nearly the whole number.
A regular is 150 kcal with 8 g of protein. With oat milk it's 140 but only 3 g of protein, and the large one from a chain is 220.
It has more milk than a cappuccino, so it's a bit more. Two a day is 300, which is fine as long as you know it's there.
Tips
- 1Order the regular, not the large. It's the same coffee with 70 kcal less milk.
- 2Skip the syrup, or have one pump instead of two. The syrup is the part that adds up, not the coffee.
- 3Having two a day? Make the second one a cappuccino and it's 40 kcal less with the same coffee.
Where it comes from
Latte is short for the Italian caffè e latte, coffee and milk, which Italians have long drunk at home, mostly at breakfast. Ask for just a latte in Italy and you will get a glass of milk. The steam wand, added to espresso machines in the early 1900s, made the café version possible, and the big milky latte took off in Seattle in the 1980s before spreading round the world.

Questions
Is a latte higher than a cappuccino?
A little. A regular latte is 150 kcal and a regular cappuccino is 110, because the latte has more milk.
Is an oat latte lower?
Barely. With oat milk it's about 140 kcal, against 150 with cow's milk.
Can I drink lattes and still lose weight?
Yes. A regular latte is 150 kcal, so it fits easily. The thing to watch is how many: three a day is 450, which is a small meal you drank without noticing.
How many calories in a large latte?
About 220 kcal, with 12 g of protein.
How much caffeine is in a latte?
A regular latte has one shot of espresso, about 60 to 65 mg of caffeine. A large one from a chain often has two shots, so double that.
Does a decaf latte have fewer calories?
No. The calories are all in the milk, so a decaf latte is still about 150 kcal. Only the caffeine changes.
Is the sugar in a latte added sugar?
Not in a plain one. The 12 g of carbs are the natural sugar in the milk. Sugar only gets added when you ask for syrup or stir some in.
