How many calories in a milkshake
A medium milkshake has 530 kcal, most of it from ice cream and sugar.
Portion
To burn it off

A milkshake is milk, ice cream and syrup, blended thick. That combination is why a medium one has 85 g of carbs.
At 530 kcal it's more of a meal than a drink, roughly the same as a plate of nachos. With a burger and fries it's easily the biggest part of the order.
No need to never have one. Just treat it as the dessert, not the side.
Tips
- 1Get the small size, it still feels like a treat.
- 2Share one with a straw each.
- 3Have it instead of dessert, not as well as.
Where it comes from
When the word milkshake first appeared in print in 1885, it meant something else: an eggnog style tonic made with eggs and whiskey. By 1900 it meant a drink with chocolate, strawberry or vanilla syrup. Then in 1922 Ivar Pop Coulson of the Walgreens drugstore chain in Chicago added two scoops of vanilla ice cream to a malted milk, and the thick shake was born.
