To burn it off

Most of the calories in normal beer come from the alcohol. Take that out and what's left is a bit of malt sugar.
A bottle is about 70 kcal and half a litre about 100. An ordinary bottle of lager is 140, so it's half.
They've got a lot better too. Most pubs have one on tap now, and nobody asks why.
Tips
- 1Alternate one alcohol free with one normal beer on a night out.
- 2Keep a few in the fridge for weeknights.
- 3Look for the ones with less sugar on the label, some are sweeter than others.
Where it comes from
Weak beer is centuries old, but alcohol free beer as we know it took off in the United States. Under Prohibition drinks had to stay below 0.5% alcohol, so brewers made near beer to survive. Anheuser Busch had already launched Bevo in 1916 and sold over 2.2 million cases in six months. Once real beer was easy to find again, near beer collapsed.
