How many calories in cold brew
A large black cold brew has 4 kcal, so it barely moves your day.
Portion
To burn it off

Cold brew is coffee steeped in cold water for hours, so it's smooth and less bitter. Black, it's just coffee and water.
A large black one is 4 kcal and with milk about 60. The milk is where nearly all the calories come from.
It's the syrups and the sweet cream that turn it into a dessert. A plain one is one of the lightest things on the board.
Tips
- 1Order it black, or with a splash of milk instead of sweet cream.
- 2Skip the flavoured syrup, or ask for one pump instead of three.
- 3Make a jug at home in the fridge, it's cheaper and you control the milk.
Where it comes from
Kyoto in Japan has made slow drip cold coffee for centuries, and the story goes that Dutch traders brought the idea in the 1600s, though that is hard to prove. Today's cold brew goes back to Todd Simpson, a Cornell trained chemical engineer who tasted coffee concentrate on a trip to Latin America and patented his Toddy cold brew system in 1964.
