A KitKat is crispy wafer covered in milk chocolate, and the wafer keeps it light for a chocolate bar. The four finger one has 26 g of carbs, 11 g of fat and 3 g of protein.

Each finger is about 52 kcal, which makes it one of the easiest bars to split. The two finger one from the multipack is 105.

Chunky, the big sharing bars and the flavoured ones are different again. The numbers can differ a little by country.

Tips

  1. 1Buy the two finger ones and you'll rarely want a second.
  2. 2Snap off two fingers and hand the rest to whoever's next to you.
  3. 3Have it with your afternoon tea, not straight after lunch on autopilot.

Where it comes from

KitKat was launched in 1935 by Rowntree's of York, England, under the plain name Rowntree's Chocolate Crisp, and became KitKat Chocolate Crisp in 1937. The name goes back to a London literary and political club of around 1700 that met at the pie shop of pastry cook Christopher Catling, whose name was shortened to Kit Cat. Nestlé has made it since buying Rowntree's in 1988.
