Baileys is whiskey, cream and sugar, so the calories come from three places at once. That's why it tastes like pudding.

A glass is about 165 kcal, with 10 g of carbs and 7 g of fat. Two glasses is 330.

It comes out at Christmas and somehow the bottle is empty by New Year. Nobody knows how.

Tips

  1. 1Pour it over lots of ice so one glass lasts longer.
  2. 2Have a splash in your coffee instead of a full glass.
  3. 3Use a small glass, it really does make a difference.

Where it comes from

Baileys was invented in London, not Ireland. In 1973 drinks consultants David Gluckman and Hugh Seymour-Davies mixed Jameson whiskey, cream and Cadbury drinking chocolate for a brief from Gilbeys of Ireland, and it went on sale in 1974 as the first Irish cream. The name came from Baileys Bistro, a restaurant below their office in Soho.
