How many calories in tequila
A shot of tequila has about 88 kcal, all of it from the alcohol.
Portion
To burn it off

Tequila is a clear spirit, so there's no sugar or fat in it. Every calorie comes from the alcohol.
A shot is about 88 kcal, so three rounds is 264. A pub single is smaller, so it comes in a bit under that.
The salt and lime cost nothing. It's the margaritas and the late night chips that do the damage.
Tips
- 1Sip a good one slowly instead of doing shots.
- 2Have it with soda and lime instead of a sugary mixer.
- 3Skip a round now and then, nobody keeps count after the third.
Where it comes from
Tequila is named after the town of Tequila in Jalisco, Mexico, where blue agave grows. People there fermented agave long before the Spanish came, and distilling it into a spirit began after the conquest in the 16th century. In 1795 King Charles IV of Spain gave José María Guadalupe Cuervo the first licence to distil from agave, and his family's company still runs today.

Questions
Does tequila have carbs?
No. A plain shot has no carbs, no fat and no protein.
How many calories in three shots of tequila?
About 264 kcal.
Is a margarita more than a shot?
Yes, a lot more, because of the orange liqueur and the sugar in it.
How many calories in a tequila sunrise?
About 200 kcal. That's a shot of tequila plus orange juice and a splash of grenadine.
Is reposado or añejo tequila higher in calories than blanco?
No. Ageing in barrels changes the colour and the taste, not the strength, so a shot is still about 88 kcal.
