How many calories in a mojito
A mojito has about 200 kcal, from the rum and the sugar syrup.
Portion
To burn it off

A mojito is white rum, lime, mint, sugar and soda water. The rum and the sugar do almost all the work, with 24 g of carbs in a glass.
One is 200 kcal and two at happy hour is 400. Two for one deals make it very easy to get to the second.
The mint and lime add next to nothing. It's the syrup that you can ask the bartender to go easy on.
Tips
- 1Ask for less sugar, a good bar will happily make it a bit sharper.
- 2Order a tall one with extra soda so it lasts longer.
- 3Try a virgin mojito for the round you don't really want.
Where it comes from
The mojito comes from Cuba. A forerunner called the Draque, said to be named after Francis Drake, who came to the Caribbean in 1586, mixed crude cane spirit with sugar, lime and mint as a remedy. When rum replaced the cane spirit in the 1800s it became the mojito, and Sloppy Joe's bar in Havana had it on its menu by 1931. The Hemingway link has no proof.
