How many calories in a waffle
One waffle has about 310 kcal, before anything goes on top.
Portion
To burn it off

A waffle is batter with butter and sugar in it, baked crisp. One is 310 kcal, with 40 g of carbs and 15 g of fat.
That's a bit more than a stack of three pancakes, because there's more fat in the batter.
From a stand at the seaside or a Christmas market, it usually comes with cream, chocolate sauce or ice cream. That can double it.
Tips
- 1Top it with fruit and a little yoghurt instead of cream.
- 2Share one when it comes loaded.
- 3Pick a toaster waffle if you just want the taste, they're smaller.
Where it comes from
Waffles grew out of thin wafers baked between two hot metal plates, a method that goes back to ancient Greece. In medieval Europe the irons were often decorated with crosses and Bible scenes, and the wafers were eaten by peasants and kings alike. Around the 15th century Dutch makers switched to rectangular plates, and the English word comes from the Dutch wafel.
