How many calories in granola
A bowl of granola has about 280 kcal, before the milk or yoghurt.
Portion
To burn it off

Granola looks like health food and is baked with oil and sugar or honey. That's what makes it crunchy, and it's why a bowl is 280 kcal.
It has 12 g of fat and 38 g of carbs, which is more than most cereals. It's tasty and filling, it's just not light.
The bowl size is the real catch. Granola is dense, so it's easy to pour twice what you meant to.
Tips
- 1Use it as a topping on yoghurt instead of a full bowl.
- 2Mix it half and half with plain oats or a lighter cereal.
- 3Look for one with less added sugar on the label.
Where it comes from
Granola started out as Granula, made in 1863 by Dr James Caleb Jackson at his health spa in upstate New York. It was baked graham flour broken into pieces, so hard it had to be soaked in milk overnight. When John Harvey Kellogg sold a similar cereal under the same name, Jackson sued, and Kellogg renamed his version granola.
