How many calories in a glass of prosecco
A glass of prosecco has 90 kcal, most of it from the alcohol.
Portion
To burn it off

Prosecco is lighter in alcohol than most wine, and it's served in a smaller glass. That's why one comes to 90 kcal.
The trouble is it goes down easily. A bottle shared between two at brunch is about three glasses each, so 270 kcal.
It's one of the lighter choices at the bar. A spritz with it is a bit more, a pint of lager a lot more.
Tips
- 1Ask for brut, it's the driest and has the least sugar.
- 2Have a glass of water between each one.
- 3Top it up with sparkling water for a longer drink.
Where it comes from
Prosecco is named after a village near Trieste in northeast Italy. In 1593 the English traveller Fynes Moryson wrote about a local wine once called Pucinum, praised by the Roman writer Pliny, and now called Prosecho. Since 2009 the grape itself has been called Glera, so Prosecco is the name of a place, not a grape.

Questions
How many calories in a bottle of prosecco?
A bottle is about six glasses, so around 540 kcal.
Is prosecco lower than wine?
Usually, yes. A glass is 90 kcal, a standard glass of wine about 125.
Is prosecco high in sugar?
Not very, about 2 g a glass for a brut. Sweeter styles have more.
What's the difference between brut, extra dry and dry prosecco?
Brut is the driest, then extra dry, and dry is confusingly the sweetest. The gap is only a gram or two of sugar a glass, so a few kcal.
How many calories in a mimosa?
About 90 kcal for a 150 ml glass made half and half. Orange juice is lighter than prosecco, so it ends up close to a glass of prosecco on its own.
