Portion
To burn it off

Tiramisu is savoiardi biscuits soaked in espresso, layered with mascarpone whipped with egg and sugar, and dusted with cocoa. The name means pick me up, which is fair given the coffee.
A restaurant portion is 380 kcal. A small one, or one of the little pots from the supermarket, is about 250.
Mascarpone is a very rich cream cheese, and that's most of the fat. It's pudding and it's meant to be, so have it and enjoy it.
Tips
- 1Share one between two after a big pasta.
- 2Go for the small pot instead of the slab from the dish.
- 3Have it with an espresso and skip the dessert wine.
Where it comes from
Tiramisu is younger than most people think. The best known story says Alba Di Pillo and pastry chef Roberto Linguanotto created it at Le Beccherie restaurant in Treviso on Christmas Eve 1969, and it went on the menu in 1972. Friuli Venezia Giulia has its own, earlier claims, and the argument still goes on. The name is Italian for pick me up.
