Portion
To burn it off

A tablespoon is 81 kcal, with 9 g of carbs, 5 g of fat and 1 g of protein. It's chocolate spread first and hazelnuts second.
Spread on a slice of toast it's usually a tablespoon or more. A slice of bread is 90, so one piece of Nutella toast is about 171.
The problem is never the spread, it's the spoon straight from the jar. Two of those is 162 and nobody noticed.
Tips
- 1Spread it thin on warm toast, it goes further when it melts.
- 2Mix a little with sliced banana so you need less of it.
- 3Keep the jar in the cupboard, not next to the kettle.
Where it comes from
Nutella comes from Alba in Piedmont, a part of Italy known for its hazelnuts. In 1946 pastry maker Pietro Ferrero sold Giandujot, a block of hazelnut and cocoa paste that was much cheaper than chocolate and cut into slices for bread. It became the spreadable Supercrema in 1951, and the first jar called Nutella left the Alba factory on 20 April 1964.
