How many calories in a currywurst
A currywurst has 500 kcal, with 38 g of fat from the sausage.
Portion
To burn it off

Currywurst is a fried pork sausage, sliced and drowned in a ketchup and curry powder sauce. The sausage brings the fat, the sauce brings the sugar.
On its own with a little wooden fork it's 500 kcal. Add a portion of chips, as most of Berlin does, and it's 880.
It's late night food for a reason. Nobody's ever regretted one standing at a snack stand.
Tips
- 1Get it with a bread roll instead of chips.
- 2Share the fries with whoever you're with.
Where it comes from
Currywurst was first sold by Herta Heuwer on 4 September 1949 at her stand in Charlottenburg, West Berlin. The story goes that she got ketchup, or perhaps Worcestershire sauce, and curry powder from British soldiers, mixed them with other spices and poured the sauce over a grilled pork sausage. She patented her Chillup sauce in 1959, and the exact recipe is still a secret.
