A whole gimbap roll cut into slices showing rice on a white plate

Gimbap is rice rolled in a sheet of dried seaweed, gim, around a line of fillings: egg, spinach, carrot, yellow pickled radish and often ham or crab stick. It's brushed with sesame oil and cut into slices.

A whole roll is 400 kcal, with 70 g of carbs, 12 g of protein and 8 g of fat. The rice is most of it.

It looks like sushi but tastes different. The rice has sesame oil and salt, not vinegar, and the fillings are cooked, not raw fish.

Tips

  1. 1Pick tuna or egg heavy fillings for more protein.
  2. 2Have half a roll with a bowl of soup, that's a full lunch.
  3. 3Skip the fried sides at the gimbap shop, the roll is enough.
