Walking vs running
Thirty minutes of normal walking burns about 150 kcal, a 5 km run about 350.

The difference
200 kcal burned
Per kilometre the difference is small: walking burns about 50 to 60 kcal a km, running about 70. Running gets more done in the same time.
Walking is easy to do every day and almost never gets you injured. Ten thousand steps add up to about 400 kcal.
The best one is the one you will keep doing. Many people do both.
Just type it
